SOME POINTS ABOUT THE TRANSLITERATION A Phonetic system ·has been adopted to transliterate the Du'aas appearing in the SUNNATS Kitaab by arranging the SPELLING of words according to how they have to be pronounced. However,. this has not been an easy exercise due to two obstacles: a) b) There are no English equivalents for certain Arabic letters e.g. ( and ( both of which originate from the middle of the throat. English words are not always pronounced exactly alike even when the vowels are similar, e.g. BOOK and POOL. NOTE: 1) To avoid this confusion I have used the diphthong "OE" (as it appears in the English word, "SHOE") to transliterate those syllables which have to be pronounced like 'BOOK' and 'SHOOK' (i.e. without lengthening the sound of the vowels). . J EXAMPLES:~ =HOEB BA and~ _}::j.Jlj WASH SHOEK RE LA KA. , ,. 2) Also, "HE", "BE" and "RE" in the transliteration shall be pronounced like the English "HE" and "BE". I have opted for this form to the "HI" or (vii)
